Southwest Florida Retirement Communities

The extent to which our region ranks with retirees is helping to spur both demand and new development of Southwest Florida retirement communities; neighborhoods which specifically cater to residents who are Age 55 and older. Though Southwest Florida has routinely earned recognition as a great placesouthwest florida retirement communities to retire, several recent national articles have reaffirmed our region’s status as retiree-friendly. For examples, WalletHub, the Internet-based guide on consumer financial products and services recently compiled a list of Best and Worst Places to Retire in America.  In ranking 111 of the largest cities within Florida, researchers assessed aspects such as quality-of-life, the access to healthcare, array of recreational activities, affordability, crime rates and more. In the results of scoring, the communities of Bonita Springs, Cape Coral, Estero and Fort Myers all ranked high, as too were communities such as Port Charlotte and Lehigh Acres.

The study did not include cities with less dense populations, hence Naples and Marco Island were not not included. Of course, Naples has long achieved recognition with respect to retirees. Forbes Magazine has even heralded Naples among The Top 15 of best places to retire in America (particularly if you’re rich). There’s also the study produced by the financial services advisory service known as SmartAsset. This too has ranked Naples among America’s best communities for retirees. In the SmartAsset research, metrics included nuances such  as low tax burden. Then again, Naples and Punta Gorda were both respectively recognized in the Number One and Number Two slot among The Top Five places to Retire in Florida by the AARP. Interestingly, in their “State of Florida Living” assessment,  writers noted that if residential prices of Naples were considered too extreme, buyers should consider another community that awaits only minutes away, namely Bonita Springs.
While this refers to only a few recent reports, the fact remains that our area isn’t simply a good place to retire, it’s a great place to live. And as that truth continues to crescendo throughout the country, we’re seeing new demand and development of Southwest Florida retirement communities. For those that

don’t know, never imagine that these neighborhoods are comprised of residents who spend their days in a retiring frame of existence; this couldn’t be further from the truth. Southwest Florida retirement communities are soooo amenity-rich, you’ll find the residents enjoying golf, tennis, pickle ball, swimming and a variety of social activities and events coordinated by onsite staff. Among many Southwest Florida retirement communities, the atmosphere is more like that of a world class resort as opposed to your traditional residential development. Some of my favorite Southwest Florida retirement communities are Paseo in Fort Myers (distinguished as one of the best master-planned developments and home to region’s largest of amenity complexes) and Tidewater, the emerging DelWeb development underway in Estero and Cascades, also in Estero.

Among these and other Southwest Florida retirement communities, you’ll encounter exceptional homes, an incredible array of recreational options and an active cadre of residents from all points of original indulging in the unique quality of life our region offers.
